Mind – Body – Soul
Most people think that health is simply being disease-free. I used to think that way too. Just because you do not have a disease or illness in your body, it does not mean you are healthy.
For me it is all about balance. Each and every human need must be nourished and nurtured in order to have full access to health and vitality on every level.
When I was younger, health to me was being thin and looking good! As I have grown up and learnt, I have realized there is so much more to health than just appearance and health at a surface level.
Because we do not see what is going on inside our bodies, we don’t think there are any issues to be aware of. We also do not realize that what we do and eat now will make a huge impact on your entire existence on a long term basis. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be a diseased and sickly when I am old. I want my vitality to remain with me until the end.
We have been conditioned to think that we are what we see. I.E. our bodies and what they are made up of. Yes, we have a body, mind and heart, but we ARE a soul and spirit. Our bodies are just the containers of our souls. With that being said, in order for us to be in alignment with our soul and if we want to live a full, long and happy life, we do need to take care of the physical side too. When we get sick, it is actually just our body that gets sick.
The Mind-Body Connection
The body and mind are connected and influence each other.
Generally speaking, most people think of the body and mind as two separate systems that function for the most part independently of each other. If we take a moment to consider how strongly emotional states affect your physical state, we can see that there is, in fact, an inescapable interconnectedness between what we are thinking and feeling, and the state of our physical body. Take anger for instance. When you feel the emotions of anger, it is not just in your head, but all the way down to your fingertips. Trembling, heat, heartbeat, your body is right there with your feelings.
When we are unwell, there is more often the not, something going on in terms of mental or emotional content to that illness. That mental or emotional content can be involved in allowing our healing system to not function as it should – thereby allowing us to become unwell or it may stop it from working as it should to heal if it is not also addressed.
A major problem in society these days is that we have been brainwashed to think that cure is better than prevention. We also want instant gratification. We get sick and go to the doctor, who will give us medicine to suppress the symptoms. If we have a runny nose, we want to take medicine to dry it up. The issue with this way of doing things is that suppressing the symptoms is not going to cure the core issue. Suppressing the symptoms actually has adverse effects on the body and you just end up getting sicker next time. The sad truth about the medical industry is that the number one aim is: profits! Marketing and money is what it is all about. Modern medicine has its place in the world, but is not necessary to resort to it every time you have a cold or the flu.
Another problem is that when we get sick, we resist it so much that we put ourselves deeper into misery. “I can’t get sick now!” “I caught the flu, oh no!” We resist is so much that we don’t heal as quickly as we could. What we need to realize is that it is not such a bad thing that we do get sick. We are constantly feeding our bodies with foods, beverages and medication that have toxic chemicals in them. We smoke, lead stressful lives and are also affected by chemical pollutants in the air. Where do you think these toxins go? Into your blood stream and into your cells. The body has to get rid of them somehow, so your body gets sick to remove them from the system. It is a natural defense for the body to do this.
The Body is Designed to Heal Itself.
As soon as we get this and believe this and just accept it, we will start to heal faster and properly.
A personal example of this is when my body had Glaundular Fever in 2013. Now I am not one to take chemical drugs or visit a medical doctor, but at some stage it may be necessary. I had chosen to take the natural approach. I cleared the underlying core issue, beliefs and emotions behind the illness and began taking a vibrational homeopathic remedy for it. At one stage the pain and inflammation in my neck, throat and all the way up the side of my face was so excruciating that I decided to take an anti-inflammatory. My throat was so swollen I could not talk or swallow. It got worse and I went to the doctor. He gave me an injection for the pain as well as Cortisone tablets, anti-biotics and painkillers. I got the medication but decided not to take the Cortisone and anti-biotic. (By the way the word Anti-biotic means Anti-Life) I used the painkillers only when it was necessary and rested. I started improving within a day or 2. I felt so much better, but all of a sudden one night, the pain hit me again. I was confused and my mind started playing tricks on me. Could it be developing into something worse? The next day the pain was still there and I contemplated going back to the doctor. I called my Kinesiologist and he told me that it was “die-off” effect and that medical intervention was not necessary. I was in 2 minds. My subconscious was telling me to trust my body and just let it heal, but my conscious mind was telling me that it must be something more serious. I decided to just let it go and surrender and let my body do what it needed to do. I lay in bed thinking thoughts of health and healing and I cleared my mind from the conflicting information I had thought about and read about on Google. Apparently it was going to take 2-4 weeks for my body to recover from the Glandular Fever. The very next day I woke up and I felt absolutely fantastic! I had so much energy and there was not one sign of any pain or inflammation. I went out with my family and even went to gym. That was the end of it and it was gone. Our minds are very powerful when it comes to accelerating our healing. We just need to realize this and accept that we are more powerful than we ever thought we were.
